Effective pipeline solutions are another important offering from Marais Laying Technologies. Generally, we use our SMC Wheel Trencher to lay 1 pipe and 1 fiber optic cable as demonstrated in the Dingo Gas Field project.

It is common for customers to have varying requirements when it comes to the materials used for the pipelines they are laying. During the Dingo Gas Field project, for example, a pipeline from FIBERSPAR in glass fiber (See picture below) was used. Another popular choice is HDPE (high density polyethylene pipeline) due to it being more flexible. The team at Marais can advise you on the best solution and machinery to deliver the best results for your specific project.

Safety and cost effectiveness are also important considerations when finding the right solution. A Marais pipeline solution includes:

  • Simultaneous installation of other services (FO)
  • Simultaneous installation of cable protection and/or warning tap
  • Backfilling with thermally tested and/or excavated material
  • Minimum open trenching risks
  • Between 300 to 4,000 lm/day

What is particularly impressive about the Marais solution is the cable gathering we use for mechanical laying projects. It consists of gathering several cables and fastening them step by step before laying, as demonstrated in the images below.
