Speedy Installation of Gas Pipeline in Australian Outback

10 Sep 2014 4:30 PM - Speedy Installation of Gas Pipeline in Australian Outback

Client: Central Petroleum

Project Type: Laying of High Pressure Gas Pipeline

September 2014 saw the laying of 40km of high pressure gas pipeline to connect the Dingo Gas Field with the gas treatment facility in the Brewer Industrial Estate. A Marais Trencher model SMC500R was deemed suitable for the job with its average output of 2600m per day. Located 50km south of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, this area can be particularly challenging because of its arid climate, sand plains and dune fields. In spite of the challenging conditions it took only twelve days to lay 30 coils of the network – a speed that has never been seen in the country before!
